Patience...

...is not my strong suit. Especially when it comes to guacamole. It seems like the craving for it comes on quickly...but, alas...the avocados don't seem to care. And why is it that sometimes produce ripens too quickly...so that you miss the chance to enjoy it? Yet, other times...it just sits there, unripened...just taunting you...

Ok...so I'm beeing a wee-bit dramatic...but these guys are still soooo green! I wanna get my guac on!

When they finally get around to doing their thing...this is how I fix my guacamole (although, if I'm honest...it's not authentic at all...more like a dip.)

1. Halve 3-5 *ripe* avocados, remove pit, scoop out the fruit, and mash

2. Add 1/4 - 1/2 cups sour cream, Miracle Whip, and salsa ( I start here...you can always add more)

3. Seasonings: 1 tbsp. cumin, 1/2 tbsp. garlic powder, salt & pepper to taste

4. Mix it all up. If you're storing it...a bit of lemon or lime juice helps it to not turn that nasty shade of brown. It's usually gobbled up, though...so this step isn't always necessary.

As I've stated before...I'm not a precise cook (that's why I'm not too great of a baker)...so these measurements are not exact. The ingredients are, though...so if you just play around with amounts to your liking...you will have one delicious snack!

  2. I love guacamole too! It's always sad when the avocados aren't ripe enough. Or if you really want it but they are crazy expensive!

  3. Guac, chips, and a diet coke=my favorite snack! If you put an avocado seed in your dip that helps it from turning brown too.
